Welcome to the primary source of information for ARES members in southwest Colorado. My name is Randy Buxton, callsign W4IFI, and I am the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) Emergency Coordinator for southwest Colorado.

There is a need for skilled radio operators to provide communications during emergencies and disasters in southwest Colorado whether it’s at a county emergency operations center, an evacuation shelter, a remote incident command post, or even from the comfort of your own home station.

I hope everyone with an interest in emergency communications and a desire to serve their community will join ARES.  Regardless of your experience, license class, equipment capabilities, or any other factor which you may consider limiting, you stepping forward to serve is more important than anything else.

After submitting your application an e-mail will be sent to you. In it will be a list of the ARES baseline training requirements and how to obtain the free on-line training; a questionnaire about your radio equipment capabilities; and a form to indicate your availability for deployment.

YOUR ARES APPLICATION FORM IS AT THIS LINK:

As our roster of ARES members grows I will have much more information on what’s to come.  Thanks for being a part of our ham radio community. And check back often for the latest on what’s happening with ARES in southwest Colorado.
